First electric guitar - mexican fender strat or yamaha pacifica 112j?

They are both great guitars but I'd say go with the Yamaha. You'll save same money and as you are starting out on electric you might want to get a better guitar in the future. The Yamaha is just as good as the Fender, but people diss them cus they're not an as well known brand.
