Is this chevy s10 worth it?

I found a 1999 Extended cab chevy s10 (w/o 3rd door).98k miles.It appears to be rust free and is a 2wd 4 cyl manual ..They have it listed as 2500 obo..Considering my general description of it and the price, would 2000 be a fair offer? More importantly, what should I look for if I were to have it inspected by a mechanic..thank you!
