How does imprinting affect an animals life in its future?
Imprinting, of course, is learning which occurs during a specific period of brain development that will stay with the animal for its lifetime. In humans, bad stuff happening as an infant can cause lifelong trouble. I use humans for several reasons such as the fact that we understand that animal best, being one, and also because we keep separating "animals" from "humans" but there is really absolutely no difference nor separation. Imprinting does include early parental behavior, such as facial appearance, love, and so on. Good case for feeding. By the way, imprinting gone bad can never be erased. In humans, there is a critical time period for determining how to move ones eyes and eyebrows and such when speaking. An autistic child missed that knowledge. I was one.
