Can Baseball Catchers Helmets be one size fits all?

My boyfriend has a huge head, his hat size is 7 3/8, and i want to buy him a new catchers helmet for his birthday and the one im buying online at champs doesn't have any sizes to choose from. Should I buy it since its the least draining of the little money i have and hope it fits his boulder head or do i buy the much more expensive one?
